Ilyasi Masjid is a historically and architecturally significant mosque located in the Nawan Shehr area of Abbottabad.

Constructed in 1932, it is uniquely built over a natural stream that flows from a hill on the eastern side of the mosque.

The stream is channeled into a large ablution tank in the courtyard, where worshippers perform ablution before prayers.

The mosque is entered from the west, which features a spacious courtyard and the mosque’s main decorative façade.

Architecturally, the mosque blends Indo-Islamic, European, and Sikh design elements, with a symmetrical western elevation featuring pilasters, arched windows, calligraphy, and ornamental chattris.

A tall, octagonal minaret and a small dome decorated with Kashigari-style glazed tilework are located at the southern edge of the mosque.

The interior prayer hall is arranged as a hypostyle space with fluted columns and composite capitals, and includes a wooden mihrab framed by a pointed arch.

A beautifully tiled jharoka beneath the dome enhances the mosque’s visual richness.

The mosque is also popular for the nearby pakora and samosa stalls, especial

With its integration of natural water, architectural fusion, and community heritage, Ilyasi Masjid remains a distinctive landmark of Abbottabad.
